No, my camera takes 16:9 video, why?

It just looks odd for some reason. YouTube is really compressing your video.

You need to upscale the video so YouTube doesn't overly compress it.

Thats actually an mpeg-2 file converted to an .avi file......probably not the best for youtube, I'm just testing it out. Problem is, if I want to edit it nothing supports AC-3 audio.

It does look compressed. Looks like when you rip a DVD to VCD to fit it onto a CDR. Not that I ever did anything like that......
