Just curious if someone could tell me if I have room on my mobo for 2 Sata HD or would I only be able to keep one in there. Mobo is Intel D945GTP. Do I need anything to hold it in place? Please let me know.

thx

Your motherboard has 4 SATA ports.

Not sure what you mean by "Do I need anything to hold it in place?"

It just slides into a drive bauy and screws in unless you have some really wired setup. Some cases come with drive rails that you snap onto the drives, then you slide the drive into the bay. If it didn't come with any, don't worry about it. You only need something like what you were referring to if you want to put a hard drive where a CD/DVD drive would normally go.

3.5" drive bays! Those are seen on the front of the case not on the board under the 5.25" bays for your cd or dvd drive and usually underneath any openings for one or two 3.5" floppy drives if seen. Some cases see pull out drive cages while many see the drive simply inserted into a slot and fastened inplace. Need a few references?

So there should be an open bay which I can just screw it in to hold it in place? Also, would it be close to where my other HD already is?

thx

You generally see two or three drive bays available. On some cases you may see one or two removable drive cages that see two or three slots available for each there.

(Gee? Once I open up the external usb drive's casing along with tossing in an old ide drive to see if that still works I would have 4 sata, 2 ide internally. :p )
