Ok i need your help guys, i need a graphic card ordered by tomorrow because my jaton overheats real bad and basically the 8600 is just outdated. its been awhile since i've researched video cards and i hope you guys can put the time in to help me.

my budget is $120 heres what i got so far:

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4670
GDDR4 512MB
Core:750mhz
Mem Effective:2200mhz
Memory Interface: 128 bit
Stream Processors:320
$80

ASUS Radeon HD 4830
GDDR3 512MB
Core:575mhz
Mem Effective:2000mhz
Memory Interface: 256 bit
Stream Processors:640
$114

MSI 9800GT
GDDR3 512MB
Core:660mhz
Mem Effective:1900mhz
Memory Interface: 256 bit
Pixel Shaders: 112
$120

Of those, the HD 4830 comes out slightly ahead of the standard 9800GT in most tests. But the MSI is overclocked, pushing it ahead of the 4830. The HD 4670 is outright disappointing according to some owners.

So ill just cross out the HD 4670 and the 9800GT. im gonna go with the HD 4830.

i found a gddr4 edition of the hd 4830 but is $122.the msi gddr3 verison is $80 and the sapphire gddr3 $100, both of those companies i've heard very good reviews about. i've never heard of Apollo and theres no newegg reviews about the card, even google doesnt show anything

Apollo GDDR4 Radeon HD 4830

Think i should go with the gddr4 verison?

If that's the case, put a little more in and get this.

Wow man i cant believe how much there bringing down the prices on these cards. Thanks alot Rohan

But i do have a problem.. my psu is only 300 watt BUT i dont have a high end system

Specs:
Lakeport i945g Intel Mobo
Momentus 5400.2 80GB hard drive (yeah i use a laptop hd.. dont ask xD)
P4 630 3.0ghz HT
2x1GB Kingston 533mhz
Liteon dvd drive

And thats all i run, do you think i could get by with a 300 watt psu. i dont have the budget to replace it just yet..

EDIT: this guys computer: intel core 2 duo extreme, 74gb raptor, 4x2GB Kingston 1066ram

I think maybe it could work..

thanks again for showing me the hd 4850 rohan, the benchmarks are insane but its probably not gonna be as good on my system ;)

I don't know. That's really cutting it close. All I can say is wait a bit longer. You're sure to find a deal within a week. I'll keep looking for you.

No problem, by the way.

Don't run a 4850 on your system.....I really wouldn't lol..

I have a HD 4670 and i really don't like it, lol..and i was running on a dell 300W and in extremely graphically intense games (crysis, and sometimes cod5) my system would shut down..

and the HD 4670 doesnt even use a power connector!

EDIT: btw, im saving up for an open box version of the 4850 ...so i could find one for ya, i look pretty much everyday on newegg ;D

Thanks for helping me out guys but after checking the internetz my P4 630 will bottle neck every card above HD3750 or 7900GT and up

So i've decided just to get a new system. All i need is cpu, mobo, ram.. i have everything else.. The approach im going for is high quality mobo, and budget cpu. if that makes sense.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHZ

Black Edition means its unlocked, internetz says its a good overclocker (3.6ghz) and its basically a Phenom but a dual core..

Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.1GHZ

Faster but not as good of instruction set as the kuma and has a locked cpu multiplyer. but internetz still says it can overclock.

Not Sure what mobo to get, im not familar with amd. i got a budget of $150 max for the mobo.
