I think that I will go with the 3870 because I plan on crossfire in the distant future.

with those kinds of funds available I'd get the 4830, it's pretty light on power and can be OCed to compete with the 4850, and yes, crossfire would be an option later on...

yes, you could probably run it with a decent 350w-380w psu...

not a top notch psu, but probably good enough as long as it doesn't blow up, you won't need a top notch psu to ruin the 4830...

The Rosewill 450W will be fine. It's a decent quality and puts out 30A on it's dual 12V rails. ATI recommends a 450W PSU for the 4830.

If you could get an HD 4830 with your budget, then DO it. It's going to be a lot faster than the HD 3870.
