Microsoft has a $250,000 (£172,000) reward for anyone that provides information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the Downadup/Conficker virus. I understand why Microsoft would want to catch those responsible, but I was shocked to see such a high price tag.

It may not be a lot of money for Microsoft, but it still is a very substantial amount for any private business to put up for a bounty. I think they're banking on someone who knows who did it to step up and tell for the reward.
