I'm not sure how to describe it. If I pull a couple of files to my pc it works. But I tried to back the entire flash drive and it said it couldn't read the source drive. So I tried to run defrag and that's when I figured something out I think. My flash drive shows up as FAT file system in defrag. And it tells me that their might be something wrong and to run chkdik.
So I backed up what I could and was going to try and format it in windows. But in the drop down menu there were only 2 options FAT, FAT32. I want to format it and put NTFS on it.
Why can't I copy all my files at once?

I'm quite sure all drives are capable of NTFS.

You need to go to start -> run -> type "devmgmt.msc" (no quotes)

Then find your usb drive in disks -> right click -> properties -> policies tab -> select "optimize for performance" -> click OK.

Now go back into My Computer, right click your drive to format and the NTFS option should now be there.
