I just purchased an Acer AM5620-E5512A

It is Quad Core Intel

I am trying to install an extra hard drive an IDE 320GB Western Digital HD.

I am running Vista 64-bit the computer is recognizing the drive as a floppy drive how can i fix this?

There was only one IDE port on the motherboard.

I went into the bios and there is no option to change the drive to another category.

I am trying to get this to work without having to purchase an IDE to SATA adapter if possible.

Thanks

Some modern motherboards don't have an IDE connector. They do for some odd reason have a floppy drive connector. I don't know how you got it to plug in but that's the reason it shows as a floppy and not a hard drive.
