Bought a game and couldnt install

Make sure the Disc is free of smudges and scratches as well. I know it is new but sometimes they need to be wiped off before using.

It MAY have been spyware or a virus hogging resources. You might want to run some scans with SpyBot, MBAM, and/or AdAware...maybe even AVG or Avast (I recommend the latter)...just a suggestion. Better safe than sorry.

Can't you just register your stuff on Steam and download it from that? You wouldn't even need the CD to play it.

i actually have avast on my computer and scan it regularly so idk why it hasnt shown me anything... ill get adaware and try that to see if it picks anything up... and as for downloading it straight from steam, already tried that, i couldnt find a way to JUST download it, i had to buy it

Do you scan inside Windows?

...you shouldn't. You'll catch way more viruses/spyware/etc by scheduling boot-time scans.
