Need opinions on future build

I would definitely go with an i7. I've been dieing to get one, but I have no money. We can put a build together with the i7 920. If you're under $2000 when we're done we can get you a 940.

If you're going with an i7 build you'll have to switch out the memory for triple channel DDR3. I would also get a stronger power supply since you plan on running a high end card. Reason why is if you want to ever SLI/Xfire a high end card, you'll need a 700W+ PSU. The optical drive looks fine. Personally, I think it doesn't really matter since I don't burn anything to CDs. I would try to go with a different case though. The 1200 is nice and all. Roomy, lots of airflow, but I would still prefer a Lian-Li although I've never owned one before.

920-770.94
940-1040.94

920 with 1 TB- 960.93
920 with 300gb 10,000 RPMS- 1,000.93

940 with 1 TB- 1,230.93
940 with 300gb- 1,270.94

Those are the totals without GPU's

Well you need to take into consideration that you need DDR3 memory and a X58 motherboard. Should bring that total about $200 or so.

for the PSU you should go with the Corsair 750TX, its a bit more but the ampere is really nice for single rail, will be nice especially if you want to get the Evga GTX 280, or if you want you can get the 260 core 216 right now and do the 90 day step up program and just get the 280 within those 90 days. The 90 day step up program is really good, say you buy the 260 for $270 right and the 280 will still be like $325 in 50 days, you will only need to pay $55 for the 280. of course u gotta give the 260 back though lol

more like around $250-$300, the X58 boards are around the $200 range and the RAM is around $100, depending on how much GB you want. 4Gb is more than enough though

new motherboard?

and Tech, this build isn't for the immediate time, I am just making sure I know what I am getting. It may not happen until about April...Am I thinking too far ahead?

hmm well im sure the price will drop by april on most of the things u are looking at. Yea that mobo is more than fine

I would go with this memory set: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145220

The eVGA board looks good. Unlike older nvidia chipsets, this one is supposed to be a beast at OC'ing...considering the world OC champion helped design it.

As far as your GPU...are you going to do gaming with this?

ya he will be doing gaming, i recommended the 260 core 216 and 280.
