We still don't know what resolution he's playing at. The HD 4850 would be more than enough for a 17"/19" and I'm doing fine at 1920x1600 with mine overclocked.

I don't know about the HD 4850 for a "moderate/heavy intense gaming" rig. My father in law has one in his new system and isn't impressed with in the least.

or even something like an EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Superclocked Edition 512MB.

I use a Cooler Master 600w and a Antec Neo 550w. Both have a lot of bang for the buck. And modular to boot.

the Antec Neo is a good psu, but you can't really claim it's good "bang for the buck" at close to $100 shipped for 550w ($89.99 before shipping), modular = more expensive, it would be hard for one to sneak into the "bang for the buck" category...
