I Currently have 3.0 gbs ram and i want to add 2 more gbs on my Lakeport-g i945 intel motherboard and my motherboard says it has a 4gb cap.

Now does that mean it cant accept a 4gb ram stick or 4gb of ram?

What? thats f*ckin pathetic... ah i knew i shouldve gotten an AMD

So basically if i put more than 4gb in, it wont register at all?

If the board sees four slots that would be a 1gb dimm in each to see the 4gb maximum supported. The present board wouldn't accept any 2gb or 4gb sized dimms to start with.

Which edition of Windows are you running? Running any Cad programs? If not you won't have anything to even use it to start with.

What many don't seem to know is that installing too much memory can actually slow a system down. I'd rather have a faster memory speed and faster cpu with 2gb in then 8gb of what?
