Obama buzz sweeps U.S. capital

Anyways, I hope that this country doesn't turn socialist.

The Republican administration pulled a VERY socialist move with all the bailout packages. All that money could of been placed back into public services such as health care, instead of the pockets of huge corporate owners that feel the need to all fly separately in their private jets to Washington to beg for money.

You guys can argue over this all your life. All kinds of governments have socialistic and capitalistic/democratic characteristics. What you guys fear is extreme (pure) socialism and there is no way that is going to happen. The way this government is currently structured makes that nearly impossible. Besides, certain qualities of socialism are nice to have around.

I'd also like to point out that a lot of you only have this vision because you're comfortable in your own little home where you have family members that care for you and take care of you. I'm sure that if you were in deep shit and needed help you wouldn't be seeing the situation with the same eyes. Some of you should try looking through the eyes of the less fortunate.

I'm so glad this day has finally come.....I just hope that Obama lives up to all the promises he made during the election and does a good job planning the new economic plan.....He seems to already have a good supporting from not only his party but the others as well....Should be an interesting next few months.....Bye Bye Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:D:D:D

when has a president EVER lived up to his pre election promises?

There was only one good president, George Washington. he is the only one that didnt belong to a political party, he actually went to battle with is troops, by far the most down to earth dude this planet has ever seen IMO.

George Washington was more concerned with his reputation than with the country by his second term. He wasn't nearly a political genius as the likes of Jefferson and Lincoln. The only reason he was made President and the only reason he was a good President is because he was a trustworthy man. Although obsessed with his reputation, he was honest.

Well, I gotta say, I'm glad it's over. It would be nice if the media and everything didnt have to make such a big deal about him being a black president, rather then look at him as, "just another president"...

I hate the fact that he seems to be more of a celebrity now than a President. Hopefully that all changes as things calm down.

They make it a big deal because it is a big deal. It took the country 83 years from Independence to ban slavery, then nearly 100 for equal rights. Now it's been only 40 years since equal rights and we have a black President in our hands. That is a big deal. It's significant. It means whatever we're doing here is working.
