I bought my car from a listing on craigslist. I don't see how it can be sketchy. You make the deal in person, and in most cases can see the item in operation. In my case, I took it for a drive and got to see the service records before handing over the cash.

"sketchy" is usually if they want to meet somewhere, I got boned on a 19" LCD like that, but I was only out $25, which I have easily made up on the deals I've gotten from craigslist, the best ones are the ones who have you come to their home, no way in hell you get boned in that deal...
