No hi-speed usb host....

I have a Sony Vaio and an external Sony burner that will burn video/data/music discs. Videos take a couple of hours to burn. The problem is that when I turn the burner on a little balloon pops up and says that the devise will work better if it is connected to a hi-speed usb. When I click the balloon a window comes up and says that there is no hi-speed usb hosts on my computer. What can I get to remedy this? As stated this is a Sony Vaio desktop and while I can upgrade the memory I'd have to practically replace the mother board to install any thing else on it such as a video card up grade. Also I have hi speed cable. Any info you can share?

You can buy a PCI card that has "high speed" usb ports. This is probably your only option.

As a side note, the boxes may say that they are USB 2.0.
