windows 7

I like it, it is what Vista should have been

exactly, the Vista feel without the bogged down feel...

I like it...

I want to download it. Unfortunately, I don't know how to create a third partition without having to reformat the disk completely nor how to dual boot. When I get some time on my hands this weekend I'll probably look it up and everything.

downloaded it and i think imma play with it this weekend cos i have an exam on friday , either install it on my lappy or get some more ram for an old box i have lying round

how you guys thing an old
celeron 2.4 with 1gb ram would handle it ?
just for testing , no gaming or extreme stuff just email internet stuff

I have been using Win 7 beta for a couple days and I have to say I really like it! With the taskbar showing the available wireless networks(for example)just by hovering over the icon makes it so much easier without having to click a few times to get there. WMP looks really cool as well.

^^^^

Lol i've been using windows 7 7000 build completely for the last 6 weeks. i'm in love with it. the only problems i have right now is

Outpost Firewall is incompatible
AVG Internet Security is incompatible
The recycle bin becomes corrupted after awhile for no reason (thats if you actually use the recycle bin)
The Foxyproxy addon for firefox made firefox crash, so dont use it

Some good things though
My frame rates for Oblivion were 15 frames higher (avg) than Vista SP1 but xp still did better (obviously).. These are the avg frame rates i got
Windows 7: 110fps Vista: 95fps Xp: 125fps

ConvertxtoDVD Finshed Encoding a divx 700mb movie on high 4-6 minutes faster than Vista. I did 6 tests with the same movie.

In the next week i can post some graphs, and give you guys a real performance review of windows 7

How much drive space and how many drives there? One method for a single drive with only one OS would be to use a 3rd partitioning tool like GParted live for cd where you boot off the cd in order to shrink the primary or second partition. But there has to be enough free space for that to happen.

Once you have reduced one partition down in size instead of two and having to move one towards the front after you create a good 20-30gb primary at least for seeing 7 installed there when selected during the installation. It will automatically add XP or Vista or both into it's own boot options when finished.

Here I multiboot across separate drives allowing a 120gb primary for 7 while XP sits on about 325gb. Vista is on a separate drive while 7 64bit and Linux sits on a 3rd! The 3rd drive is temporary however.

GParted is a free Linux drive tool that will work with MS partitions as well as Linux types with the latest release in iso form found at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=115843&package_id=271779

The main documentation for GParted is seen at http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/generalities/gparted.htm

The free cd/dvd burning program ImgBurn or the free version of StarBurn work quite well for burning the iso disk image onto a blank dvd-r.
ImgBurn is available at http://www.imgburn.com/
The free version of StarBurn a much better burning program with more features is available at http://www.rocketdivision.com/download_starburn.html

If you have problems or need more help simply start a separate thread.

I have a 25GB partition for XP and a 50GB partition for other files (80GB total). My XP partition has 570MB left. My calculations were a little short since I didn't expect to get an iPod Touch, so I ended up installing a lot of other things. The 50GB partition has less than 5GB used since I decided to delete a lot of old stuff I had on there.

With this program am I allowed to increase an existing partition. I'd like to redistribute my space in 3 partitions of 30 (XP), 30 (W7), 15 (other files). I don't really need another space for the other files, it's just a lot of important text documents and programs that I keep.

We should probably take this to PM or another thread too.

edit: I've moved some music that I had on C to D. C now has 1.2GB free. Which should be plenty since I don't plan to install anything else.
