There are very few motherboards that accept both DDR and DDR2, but they are hard to track down.

yeah, very few have that option, I have an Asrock 775dual VSTA that not only has 2 DDR slots and 2 DDR2 slots, but also has an AGP slot and a PCI-E slot (it only runs at x8 though), if you can find them they are dirt cheap as well, I saw a site that had them a while back for about $25 + shipping...

There's an Asus mobo that has DDR2 and DDR3 slots, which is good.

Anyway, looks like you'll have to upgrade your motherboard to apply DDR2 RAM, otherwise stick with DDR. Atm, I'm with DDR, My new computer will most likely be DDR3 though, possibly building it in Feb or later.
