Nothing Happens on log on, AT ALL!

When I log on to my Windows XP SP3 Laptop, nothing happens, cannot open task manager, no taskbar, nothing. I can boot into safe mode, but thats it. Any help is appreciated! :)

I would try to and do a system restore. If that doesn't work, then try a repair.

But if your safe mode works then it may be a driver issue. Did you do any updates that recently may have caused the problem?

Well, system restore is switched off, I cannot open it in safe mode unless you know of any command line that may do so?
No driver changes that I could think of or updates really, maybe some windows updates. (I don't trust them anyway)

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. :):)

Type this in the command promopt:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

where %systemroot% is most likely C:\Windows

Are you sure it's not

%systemroot%\system32\rstrui.exe

Not sure myself haven't looked at my XP machine, but that is the path in Vista.

boot into safemode and scan every anti virus / anti spywre yo have.

go into safemode.

click on start / run and type "msconfig" on the "startup" tab disable everything.

reboot computer into normal mode.

System restore is switched off, the command you gave me doesnt allow me to switch it back on from safe mode. Any ideas?

Thanks alot!

If it's turned off then there's not going to be a restore point, so there's no point in turning on. I'd do a windows recovery using the xp cd.
