Hey,
So i know this is a wierd question for a computer forum, but i figured i would give it a shot. Basically I have a partially torn ACL from a skateboarding accident from about 4 years ago. The doctor I went and saw did not recommend surgery because it was only a partial tear. I went to about 2 months of physical therapy for it where I did everything they said. When it first happened my knee would pop out of place (? i dunno if thats what its actually doing, but thats what it feels like) very easily, for example I was at work and the floor was slippery and my shoe slid a little bit, and once my weight got on it it popped. I also took a weights class in school, where on our leg days I mostly focused on light weight extention/flexion work outs to try and strengthen it. At my latest job i am constantly going up and down stairs which also seems to make it feel stronger. However ocasionally it still does pop out if I land on it awkwardly. Actually about 2-3 times in the last year to be exact.
Basically my question is this, I still do not trust my knee holding up under anything. It still feels alot weaker that my other knee. I mean you see athletes and people who go through alot more than a partially torn ACL ond they come back 100%. where my knee feels about 40-50%. Is there anything I can do to regain the ability to do more strenuous tings on it, like say skateboard again, and not have to worry as much.
Also what would be the effects of getting the surgery? the doctor I talked to said that surgery would make me lose alot of mobility in my knee. but like I said ive seen people that completely tore there ACL had the surgery and still skate. I know that there will be alot more recovery time from surgery, but I look at it like its been 4 years and i dont feel like its 50% whereas I could of had the surgery and be out of it for 6months and not sress it for another 6 months and be back at least 80%.
Well if any of you can give me some insight on this its much appreciated.
