FRAPS is lying to me

I have a 9500 gt ddr2 128 bit
and I was playing assassins creed yesterday on medium resolution and medium to high settings.

When I turned on the computer and started playing my fps ranged around 30 to 40

But sometimes my fps jumps up to like 100 + !!
(I turn all the settings to low and the fps jumps up to like 160, and then I turn it back on med to high and the fps drops to like 100 which i still like a long way off from 30-40)
I was like WTF? because the mouse was still a little "laggy".
I kno I wasn't playing at 100 fps.

Any explanation for this?

Were you looking at the sky or something?

FRAPs is usually dead on.

Ohh, assassins creed has a fraps glitch. fraps is dead on, except for AC.

Dunno why, mine does the same thing, as does everyone who plays that game and runs fraps.

Oh sorry if i offended you, I was trying a play on words.

Odd i don't think the HD 4670 is significantly more powerful than the 9500gt yet I can only play on medium with decent fps.
