Hi Guys
I am just wondering if this would work if I did this:

It would be good for a laptop and pretty much nothing else. Those small inverters have a nasty habit of self destructing when over loaded. Besides for the money you're going to plop out for that set up you can get an APC BX1300 LCD from Office Depot ($159.00usd). If you're wanting to support 5 (4 + the one smooth wall is running on)computers and 4 or 5 monitiors, you should go larger. And the price goes up. Or get 2 of the UPS's and spread the load.

please note there will be no monitors on my smoothwall or any of my servers its just the motherboard and hard drive and cd room with 300 watt PSU.

That would work. With or without monitors. It doesn't matter.

What matters is you ensure you have a decent inverter capable of supplying the necessary power with a bit in reserve.

But then you need to keep the batteries charged.
