Grafics card review

View Post
you spelt graphics wrong... but anyways:

the 4870x2 has a 750 MHz core clock compared to the 295 which has a 576Mhz core clock.

The 4870x2 has a realistic 2gb of ddr5 memory, compared to the 295 which has only 1792 MB gddr3.

the 295 has a memory speed of 1000 MHz / 2000 MHz which the 4870x2 has a memory speed of 900 MHz.

there actually VERY similar in specs.. same shader speed, same ROD.. but actually the GTX295 has ALOT higher benchmarks than any ATI GPU out there atm, in most games it out performs the ati card by far...almost double the FPS.
Strong unaware.
Some games just favor some cards more. I'm not sure why. Dead Space loved the 4870 1GB. But, the Core 216 beat it in just about every other benchmark.

if you're saying the GX2 gets 20 FPS more than any of the cards we've been talking about (4850x2, 4870x2, GTX295, etc.) then I want some of what you're smoking, that's my GUESS...
So 2 grams of Columbian? Where would you like it shipped?

Well, this whole thread was for us to argue (freindly argue) what card you prefer... Personaly i like the 4850 or 4870, 5870 with higher cache is better though =)

On topic, Lets all just choose our top 2 favrite cards and post them
Radeon HD 4870
ATI 8800

Off topic, Um... metin... ur name is so original... lol

lol.... that "tester" is my dad...

sorry my parents named me Metin?

This Preview by guru3d of the GTX 295, They benchmarked it VS a 4870x2, and various other cards.... it looks like the GTX295 has a 10-20 fps advantage in most benches, but both are still usually in the 60+fps area, making both very good cards... The 295 may be better, BUT when its released, the 4870x2 should go down in price making it the better value?

I highly doubt it. The 4870x2 is still the best card for ATI. I don't think they will be able to drop prices that much. I'll be getting the GTX295 when it comes out. I still have the step up option from EVGA :). Do you think I will be able to run it on a quality 650 watt power supply?

As far as 295 goes? power consumption should be less than the 4870x2 (slightly). Should work as long as your rail(s) are pushing a good amount of amps. But personally I would go higher So i wouldnt have to upgrade the PSU again if I wanted to expand and or overclock. But if you read that preview I posted, the Nvidia reference card they were using was peaking at 289 watts under load. Thats still a very thirsty Card
