Ok well I just got a new laptop and I'm going to use this laptop really carefully. I have two questions. If say I download things and then uninstall, if I do that all the time with whatever I download, will that screw up my laptop even if what I download is safe? Also if I save a bunch of videos and pictures and music on my laptop and then delete all those pictures and videos, then save them all again, will that screw up my laptop eventually also?

Nope. As far as hardware goes your laptop will be just as good. However, if you keep installing/deleting and downloading/deleting your computer will start to get a lot of fragmented files which will end up slowing it down a bit. So if you want to download/delete make sure you run a disk defragment on a weekly/monthly basis, depending on much you're downloading and deleting.
