Graphics card

The CPU is your processor, such as an Intel P4 or AMD Athlon. It should have either a large heat sink attached to it or even a heatsink with a fan mounted on the top of it. When looking in your case, it's probably on the top left section of the motherboard.

Thankyou everybody for your help. I will tackle the shop tomorrow!

By looking in computer properties it says i have a AMD Athlon (tm)xp 1900+
if that helps. I cant get into the case at the moment but will have a look in the morning. Start work early. Thankyou again. You have been very helpful.

Thankyou everybody for your help. I have just bought and installed 2 fans. Not tested dvd comvertor programmes yet but the whole system is loads cooler. The cpu temperature is now 35 c and it was ranging betwee 56 right up to 75 c. Hopefully all is now well. I did suspect this was the problem but the man in the shop still says it shouildn,t need them. The CPUID hardware monitor is a great programme and helped me loads. Thanks again.
