How to determine type pf RAM in laptop?

I just pruchased my dad an HP Compaq Presario 6735s-KS115UT for Christmas. It should be here in 3 days.

It only came with 1 GB of RAm and I want him to have 2. The product specs sais it had "DDR2 SDRAM 1 DIMM" but don't I need to know pins and all that other stuff to buy him some extra RAM?

Also, if I am going to have 2 sticks in the laptop, should they be of the same brand?

download CPU-Z, google it, then go to the memory or ram page, it should tell u the ram speed and type

Will that work for a laptop that I do not have yet? It is shipping and will not be here until Tuesday. I just want to have everything ready to upgrade when it gets here.

Go to the HP's website and post a link to that model. We'll take care of it from there.

Same brand, not really. Same specs for both cards, yes.
My HP uses DDR2 667. You can get good ram for dirt cheap now. The price of chips have dropped so the price of ram cards is dropping with it.
