I was wondering how fast my external drive could be if it had windows xp on it

i have a 320gb WD Passport Essential.

Ummm, I aint sure, can you even do that?

So you have a usb harddrive and you want to add windows on it.

Thing is, what ever pc it gets installed to all the program files from windows on the hdd with mess up big time if put on another pc this will then begin with a bluescreen.

in my personal opinion, it's not a good idea.

actually its really easy and most bios' now can register an external drive, so when i plug in my external drive my computer will go to a dual boot screen

So based on that question you guys wouldnt know how fast xp is on an external drive

ive done it to a 4Gb flash drive before to recover files from a patially dead hardrive.

it works fine aslong as your mobo supports boot from USB device.

Dont expect to use it as a permanent soltion though as the speed can be dissapoitning.
