if the psu fan broke, what does it affect? cause the sound isnt working and it some time shuts off all by itself. it should work if i swap it out right? or is it something else as well as the psu.

The fan going out in your power supply is not going to cause your sound to stop working.

The most that it will do is a cause the power supply to run hot, possibly causing it to fail. You should either replace the fan or the entire PSU.

The sound issue is a separate problem. It could be caused by some conflicting software or a recent hardware change.

If it's overheating,COULD it be undervolting the motherboard,causing it too fail?

If the fan is old, you can unscrew it and install a new fan yourself. It isn't very difficult. You will void the warranty. But, I doubt a new PSU would have a bad fan.

Under powering the motherboard shouldn't cause it to fail. It may cause things to not operate properly, fail to boot, stuff like that. .
