8800gts ~ $80

dude, this card is a steal for $80 and will blow your 8600GT away, this is a good gaming card for dirt cheap, I would jump on it, but I have a 4850...

I may jump on it anyway and stick it in my kids' computer, my son would love it...

Yeah it is quite a jump. May not be the best performing card but for $80, it will be leaps above your 8600gt. Also for $80 I think it is the best performing for the price(although I haven't looked at other $80 cards).

yeah i remember paying $275 for my 512mb 8800gts. too bad it broke and the shipping got messed up when i RMA'd it so im not getting it back. anyways, i knew someone who had an 8800gtx and my 512mb performed slightly better. im sure the 320mb gts is a step up from an 8600 but you may want to save a bit more and get a card with a newer core.

Well I have $220 that I could spend, I just don't want to spend all of it. I only mentioned it because I thought it might have been a steal.

personally, I would save the $40 for another upgrade now or later and get the 8800GTS, unless you think a few fps is worth $40...

I have a 1GB 8600GT and it can't touch my 4850, which basically means it wouldn't be able to touch the 8800GTS either...

you also need to consider your resolution, the 8800GTS will be practically neck and neck with the 4850 at lower res...

Right. I'll be running 1440x900. How does the 8800GTS 320MB version compare with the 8800GTS 512MB (G92). How much of an improvement is the G92 revision? If it's not too much then I'm going to jump on that 8800GTS.
