When I was in school, my teacher told us it was ok to throw our keyboard in the washing machine to clean it. Has anyone ever heard of that and actually done it?

I have done it before, by taking the keyboard apart, keeping the electronic pieces on it. Only take the plastic covering and the keys off of it... and put the "plastic" in the dishwasher, dont put the actual electronic part in the washer. Also some dishwashers may melt your plastic, so don't have the temperature up so high.

Wait wait wait....

A washing machine = something you put clothes in.
A dishwasher = something you put dishes in.

Don't put your keyboard in the washing machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just use a can of compressed air and spray it between the keys. You could wipe it down with a damp cloth, if you wanted.

I'm hoping he didn't mean as a whole.
Electronics and water don't mix
Reminds me of someone getting in a tub of water with a plugged in toaster lol.
