I have windows vista 64bit

and 6gb of corsair xms3. How come windows is telling me i only have 4gb of ram?

no idea my friend

lets start with the basics what does your bios tell you that you have in?

where do i check that?: I have a asus P6t. I installed the 3 rams in the first 3 slots and they are all in there nice and snug. The bios says "Usable Size 4088MB"

OK yea when it boots up and reads the system details it says that the memory is only 4gb.

btw this is a brand new computer

ah i fixed it. I switched memory slots....I guess the memory needs to be added in increments and in order: a1 a2 b1 b2 etc. I had it in a1, a2, and b2.

What versoin of windows do you have, and is it 32 or 64 bit? If it's 32, that's all you will ever see. You need 64-bit to see more than 4 gigs.
