so my Dad bought an Dynex 42" from best buy on black friday.
We started to see a problem, and we dont know if it was the cable or the TV. We have Basic cable, which is about 40 channels or so, and Direct TV. Every channel is fine except for the HD channels. Like channel 7.1, 9.1, ect.
Since every channel and direct tv works except for the HD channels, would the problem be the cable station, or is it our TV?

EDIT - The HD Channels would just get distorted, sound and picture.
Like what happens when its raining a lot/snowing on the satellite, and the signal isnt good, so it gets all distorted.
The HD channels are through cable BTW.

its not your tv
a connections prob wrong
i assume your on component or hdmi cables?
possibly a bad cable

We use this

From what I have seen, we connect cable to the direct tv box, then out to the TV. Or something... I didnt set it up, my dad knows, but hes not home right now.

EDIT - The HD channels were working fine about 4 days ago or so.

Coaxial cables don't support high definition video when directly connected to the television.

Google component video and HDMI video and see which one you're currently using.

even if it was working fine a few days ago?
My dad was able to watch them as long as he wants, but now he cant.

this is how your setup should be
cable to box
then component or hdmi to tv
stereo sound will use the white and red cable to tv
5.1 you need an optical audio cable from your box to
your surround sound receiver

i dont think my dad is using a component or hdmi cable to connect to the TV.
The component is for a dvd player, and a hdmi cable to connect to the HD dvd player.
I dont think our direct tv box supports hdmi nor component.
We dont use surround sound.

unfortunately i cant.
Dont have a camera that works well.
