Can someone look my computer over? Having some issues?

Hey everyone,

I just built a new computer with my friend (he's the tech savvy one, I just kind of helped). Anyways, I'll list my dxdiag below. The problem I'm having is stuttering at some points while playing Fallout 3 on max settings. I would imagine that this computer would have no problems doing that, but I do get some pretty big stutters some times. When looking into this, I found that my computer only recognized 2gigs of my RAM, when I should have 4. Do you think that is contributing to my problem? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

(It's not going to let me post the entire dxdiag because of the character limit, so I'll post the rest in a reply.

EDIT: Ugh...I hate vbulletin boards. It'll take like 10 replies to post my full dxdiag, so if you need any crucial parts of it just let me know

32 bit operating systems can only address 4GB of memory in total

So it will add your gpu memory and all other system device memory together and display the remainder up to 4GB as your the amount of RAM

4096MB -1282MB (gpu & system memory) = 2814MB displayed as RAM

EDIT: As to your stuttering problem, it may be driver related, it may be temperature related, it may be game related.

What temp does your gpu display under full load?

Have you tried a different driver?

You have a 32 bit operating system. Those are only capable of using 4GB of RAM. But, graphics memory and cache are subtracted from that. You only have 2GB left. It's probably only reading 3.5Gb to begin with. You have to manually go into the BIOS and change the RAM timings and voltages to recommended speeds. The RAM out of the box is only tuned to get your system to boot. Not to actually perform as advertised. So, take out 2 sticks and setup the other two. What RAM are you guys using?

Aye, you need to get a 64-bit operating system to acces all your RAM. Right now your using a 32 Bit OS (Windows XP) You need to buy a 64 Bit version to use all your ram.

That, and I see your running at 1920 x 1200 which is an extremely high resolution and even here: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTU4Nyw1LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==
Their frames drop to the lower 20's through the 40's and they are using a quad core at 3.6Ghz.

Download fraps and check your FPS. Try updating the Video Card drivers as wll if you haven't already.

Also, this made me confused:
Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor
Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200

Check the settings on your card. It seems like your card is running at a resolution that your monitor can't support which is highly unusual.

That's what I ordered. It's been in a city 45 minutes away from where I live, for about 7 days now. Go into the BIOS and manually set the timing for 4-4-4-15 at 2.1V. I'm confident that should fix your problem. If you want to sell one of your sticks, I'll take it.

I actually had Windows 64bit installed orinignally and it was like completely screwy. Like it took forever for the computer to load up, and was really slow, so I ditched it. I read that Dual Core processors are better for gaming than Quad cores currently, so shouldn't it be able to handle the resolution?

As for the RAM, I'll give that a try, thanks. Hahah I don't think I'll be selling though, sorry =/

It's straight. When you start cranking up the resolution, your computer hardware begins to stress more. It's just using more resources. Adjust your timings and voltage and come back and tell me if it becomes any better.
