Will this motherboard support DDR 1600?

Okay, it says right there in the specs that it supports 1600, but there's a technicality and its confusing..

" DDR3 1600(OC)/1333/1066 MHz"

Does that mean I can only use 1333, OC'ed up to 1600?

Could I fit plain old stock 1600 RAM in there?

In fact, is it even worth it to get such quality RAM?

I want to go all out really.. Budget's 3k

and according to the reviews, it's mediocre.

Man, what am I do to? I guess buy myself some 1333, although.. I need power!

Part of me wants a rig so powerful it can run Crysis, 1920x1080, very high, AA, no less than 30 FPS consistently.

The other part of me says, "Man, thats crazy, that's a LOT of $"

But then the first part of me retorts with "Yeah, but think about it like this: You build yourself a computer that can play THAT at full settings, and you're set for YEARS.."

The second part of me is left speechless

Can anyone step in to defend the second part?

Cause.. perhaps its not worth dishing out all the $?

6 gigs of triple channel DDR 1333 (guess I can't get that 1600 now)

Should I need more or less to be set for years of a NASTY rig? I'd rather get something that lasts 5 years as opposed to 2 or 3.

Yes, you can run DDR3 1600 on that motherboard. You'll have to manually set the correct speed in the BIOS, essentially "overclocking" it.

Have a look at the QVL list and it will show you which DDR3 1600 memory has been tested to work on the Asus P6T: Asus P6T Downloads
