im about to upgrade an old computer emachine t3092,
RAM
Installed Size 512.0 MB / 2.0 GB (max) Technology DDR SDRAM Memory speed 333.0 MHz Memory specification compliance PC2700 RAM form factor DIMM 184-pin

ok if it says the mem speed is 333 mhz and pc2700, do i have to get that exact speed or can i get like a ddr 400 pc3200

The RAM will downspeed (is that a word) itself so that it matches your specs. Just like I got PC2-6400 for a system that could only accept PC2-5300 and it accomodated it.

If you are palnning on keeping the PC2700 in the machine, it would be best to get memory that matches that.

PC3200 will work fine also, but will downclock to the PC2700 speeds as Computer Head pointed out.

i think the two posters above gave you all the answers you'll need. if i were you, i'd try to match the same speed of the original stick, unless you are not going to be using that 512 stick...then like they said above, it'll downspeed to your computers performance.
