blue screen while virus scanning, help!

ok im getting some messed up stuff, blue screen's when i try to run avg free 8.0 i guess i clicked a wrong link or something today and noticed 5 processes that looked weird, come to find out there all viruses so avg finds them removes them all that, now when i get to about 30 mins into the scan or so my computer starts to freeze, im like yo wtf ? y'd this vid freeze! haha so ya then hear the hd click and boom blue screen i got a pic of it

is it the scanner? or is it just the virus thats eating my computer away and doesnt want to leave so blue screen's when its about to be found and is tryed to be removed!?!?!?

okay wow, it just did it after i posted this, like stopping me from getting help lol no but really its getting annoying cuz i keep getting them, is it time for a new hdd? or a wipe?

Explanation:

This Stop message occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which normally indicates that the system looks for data in the paging file. In this circumstance, however, the missing data is identified as being located within an area of memory that cannot be paged out to disk. The system faults, but cannot find, the data and is unable to recover. Faulty hardware, a buggy system service, antivirus software, and a corrupted NTFS volume can all generate this type of error.

User Action:

This Stop message usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM). If hardware has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if the error recurs. If existing hardware has failed, remove or replace the faulty component. Run hardware diagnostics supplied by the system manufacturer. For details on these procedures, see the owners manual for your computer. Another cause of this Stop message is the installation of a buggy system service. Disable the service and determine if this resolves the error. If so, contact the manufacturer of the system service about a possible update. If the error occurs during system startup, restart your computer, and press F8 at the character-mode menu that displays the operating system choices. At the resulting Windows 2000 Advanced Options menu, choose the Last Known Good Configuration option. This option is most effective when only one driver or service is added at a time. A corrupted NTFS volume can also generate this Stop message. Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and repair disk errors. Restart the system before the disk scan begins on a system partition. --Have you tried uninstalling AVG and seeing if the problem persists?

yeah i pulled that up on my ps3 haha took a while to find it though typing with a controller the error message lol but yeah, i did a system restore and its working good, i know the cause, it was avg found winlogon.exe as a trojan, which it is being used as one i belive, but removing it will cause your computer to crash and go boom! lol no but really i couldent even get past the login thing b4 it would just blue screen, im going to re-install avg and try to scan again but just not remove winlogon.exe

I would suggest researching items before removing them. Just because AVG sees it as a virus doesn't mean it is one. It just means that there is a string in the file that resembles that of a virus.

You can use a website like THIS to see what each process is.

yeah, i did research it, and it is a legitimate virus that will take the appearance as a actual windows process yet it will be in a different folder. its supposed to be in the window's folder i dunno after doing the system restore it helped alot wow just my computer is slow as hell since i took out the old ram sticks when i read it could b ram lol damn 1gb of ram sucks


anyone know a really good anti-virus/spyware program i can download? it has to be free.

free software usually = crap.

there is a reason good programs cost money.
