If you have been with XP for a long time and/or have some programs that only run on XP, then I recommend staying with XP for a while and waiting for W7. If a lot of your programs will work on vista, then yeah go ahead..
But personally, I'm staying with XP for now. Unless Vista comes with some super backwards compatibility thing then I'll consider it. But as some of the other posters have said..Vista is getting better over time. But Vista seems like a project that was rushed imo
