Best combination...

With obvious circumstances... I wanted to build a system and was a little curious as to what combination of graphic cards would give me the best quality/fps on fearly high settings.

Once example being 2x nVidia GTX 260 512 MB vs. nVidia 9800GX2 1GB

or.. 2x ATI HD4870x2 2GB vs ?

Running crossfire mode and sli mode..
is this only having multiple cards?

with these combinations and possible others.. what would be an ideal set with a max of approx.$1150

You are indeed correct. Nothing beats the ATi HD4870X2 in Xfire right now.

Here's the deal...
I had been accustomed to gaming with nVidia 8500 gt.. and with a reasonable ping in COD2 of 100-120.. and COD4 approx. 20-60... what graphics card with a intel quad core or dual core with 4 gb of ram allow it to spin?
Im preferably looking with high setting to get no more than 200fps.

Would going the route of crossfire or sli make a dramatic difference?

For that game a single HD4870X2 is overkill. I would get an HD4850.

does anybody have any links with a complete run down of graphics card comparisons...
ATi and nVidia preferably.
