HDD = bye bye?

I went to boot up my computer just now (I'm on dad's laptop) and I get this message:

My Computer said:
Invalid system disk
Please replace the disk, then press any key

Is my HDD fried? or is the OS corrupt? From my analysis, the HDD is fried. If the OS was corrupt it would boot up and then freeze or give me a BSoD.

Anyone care to confirm my conclusion?

Wow. I fixed it. I think it may have to do with the boot priority. I went back and I was like "this is not right". I tried to boot once again. Didn't work. I tried once more, this time, I noticed my flash-drive flashing. Didn't work. I unplugged my flash-drive and it booted perfectly. I wonder why it was trying to boot off the flash-drive. I've kept it on the USB many times and this is the first time this happened.

That's weird. Glad to hear it's fixed though. Sounds like for some reason maybe USB was a higher boot priority than the hard drive and because you didn't have a proper OS installation on your flash drive, it would hang. :confused:
