chipset question

A chipset is the combination of the north bridge and south bridge chips that control the functions of the motherboard.

A mobo (motherboard) is the main circuit board to which the CPU, chipset, and all peripherals are attached to.

thanks for explaining AR. Appreciate it. So when I say my d945gtp that is actually my mobo, correct?

Yup. That's the model number of your motherboard.

The chipset of your motherboard is the Intel 945G Express.
