In need of another new laptop once more

Hello everyone I posted a similar thread two years ago. Because the behaviour of my laptop which I got then is now becoming increasingly erratic I am considering a new one and want your recommendations.

Should I get a mac instead of a windows laptop this time? I know they are less susceptible to viruses and other scumware and don't run money into the microsoft corporation. But is the use of open source OS a drawback?

I think it would be smarter to get a high end Windows machine and just use the proper techniques to protect them. Macs are nowhere near as flexible as PCs.

Macs are pretty overpriced, If your worried about viruses dualboot xp and linux. Use linux when you want to go on the internet and don't want to worry about viruses, and use xp when you want to do things you can't easily do on linux (itunes, games, windows specific programs, etc)
