need help with active directory and policies

well so i setup server 2003 and acces the active directory. i go into the ad users and computers, i created a orginasion just called test, created a user in that test org and then right click on test, and go to properties->group policy. I then add a new one and edit it to disable the controle panel. close out of it. then on a xp pro comp i join the domain and login in correctly. however it seems like the xp comp fails to receve the policy. i tried gpupdate /force and still nothign, i can still get into the controle panel

I don't know if you have it already but i'd definitly recomend that you install the improved group policy editing tools.

you need to create a group and put the machines in it,
you then need to put that group in the security filtering part of the group policy management window.

the policies should now apply to the machines.
