what would be a good fan/heatsink for Athlon 64 x2 5400+ bristbane 2.8 dual core?? since it didnt come with one :( someone link some please.

ddr2 800 would work on this mb right? or should i get 1066?
MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

with that mobo and an antec 300 mid tower, if i had 2 gpu would the bottom one hit the ps since they are made with the ps at the bottom?

thanks

The DDR2 memory that will easily run is 533/667/800/1066 up to the 8gb max. seen for that model. " dual channel DIMMs DDRII 533/667/800/1066 up to 8GB" http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=newsdesc&news_no=620

1066 is the fastest supported speed while you can run either without problems. With prices having come down over the last few months you can go for a good set of either. Higher voltages like 2.2v often point at pre-oced memory however over going with 1.9-2v.

The supply at the bottom leaves a large gap between that and the board with the cards up about half way on the board itself. There's no worry about any card at all hitting the supply.

For a cpu cooler the higher prices seen on the Zalman CNP9700 copper arrayed 110mm blue led fanned cooler are worth it for many while ThermalTake is another good brand seeing lower prices on their line. This will depend on where you can order from while the links here are at newegg and xoxide.com

For a look at the Zalman model, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019 Xoxide sees the same for $1 more at http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-cnps9700-cu-cooler.html

For a large copper hsf by ThermalTake seeing a smaller 92mm fan, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106075

I have the Zalman 9700 myself running on top of my Intel Q6600, and I can tell you, that it keeps temperatures down, and its extremely quiet too :) Recommended.

o i like that 1, and it is a lot cheaper. anyothers anyone would recomend? for an am2 socket?

I personally prefer those 2. I'm glad LambOfGod recommended that one.
I have that one running off an older PC, and the Zalman 9700 running off my new one.

In my opinion though, the Zalman has the edge over cooling, keeping the temperature of the parts slightly lower, especially on new CPU's.
The Zalman also comes with a fan controller to minimize noise when you need it, whereas the Arctic Cooling Freezer relies on the motherboards automatic software for controlling speed.

My quad is kept at around 35-40 degrees C on all 4 cores idle, with the fan speed on the lowest setting. Silent as a mouse.

For an older Socket A build I was looking at the Freezer64 Pro here but went for the Zalman 7000b that sits horizontally. The next build saw the 9500 put to use there on the 939 build and now the 9700 for the present AM2.

One tip for seeing lower cpu temps besides the hsf used however is how well the case is cooled. If the board runs warm the cpu temps are up automatically.

I found that one out fast when seeing the 939 replace the old board in a case sadly lacking! Once a new case seeing large case was put to use(board=48C cpu=46C) with everything new moved into that try a good 13-15C temp drop(board=31C cpu=33C).

How much do you wanna spend?

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/6...et_775_AM2_AM2754939_940_F.html?tl=g40c14s813 Similar performance to the TRUE, but has a better mounting system.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/7...ink_Socket_LGA_775_AM2_AM2.html?tl=g40c14s813 Top-down syle Noctua cooler, performs very good.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/6...75_LGA1366_AM2_Xeon.html?tl=c167s511b34#blank Noise-oriented cooler. Widely spaced fins allow good performance with a low-speed fan or fanless if you have good airflow.
