Howdy,

Building my first computer and I need help picking a motherboard. I am intending to use it for both high end gaming and high-performance molecular dynamics simulation.

The Processor I want to use is a Phenom 9850 Black 2.5Ghz Quad-Core,

For a video card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260

I know that duel core processors may sometimes be better for gaming, but the simulation code I am working on is going to be optimized for 4 processing cores.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what kind of motherboard would work best? I want to try to keep the entire build to less than $1000.

Thanks.

Mind spending a little more money? You could go with the new Intel Core i7 920 which will blow that Phenom out of the water. The hyper-threading would help you loads now and in the future.

The i7's are nice. One of my bosses is building a box and he is putting 2 of them into it. Unfortunatly they are out of my price range.
