my PSU blew and i was wondering if a could exchange it from this older computer i have.

i believe, but am not sure, that the one that blew was 230v and the one i want to put in is 240v,
but i don't know much about PSU's

will that make a difference

thank you in advance, and i plan to hang around here.

If you are talking about watts and not volts, then the 240 should work just fine as long as the mounting holes and wiring/connectors are the same.

It depends what style the older PSU is... If it is an AT/ATX ect...

(and as Atmomic is correct what are you referring to watts or volts?, read the side label of the PSU)

i'm not to sure, the one i'm replacing says 115v/230v 450w and the one i'm replacing it with is from a manufacured computer so i don't know too much about it all i could find was a sticker that said its 240v

How about a little more info on the computer itself. The older PSU might not have enough "juice" to power the newer system.

the older computer is an emachine and i believe i just found out it might be 300w. specs
1.8GHz AMD Sempron 3100+ processor
512 ram
100 gb hd
don't know mother board

and the one i want to put it into is somelike
intel dualcore 3.6
4gb ram
readon something not too high end
and some asus motherboard

edit its a foxconn

i would have more info but i can't get it to turn on
