Hi, I recently purchased this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182017 power supply and this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299 - Motherboard

The main 20+4 connector doesn't seem to plug into anywhere, which bothers me. Did I pick an incompatible power supply? People told me it was compatible with the system. We plugged everything in --- except the 20+4, and the system wouldn't boot, which leads me to believe I need an adapter of some sort. Here is an overview of the motherboard so you can see where I was trying to install it at:

Here is the connector I am talking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI...escription=Rosewill RP550-2 550W Power Supply

Is there some sort of adapter I need? Or am I just not plugging it in right?

You're not plugging it in right. If you look closely there are some round pins and some square pins. If you get the first one each row to match up then you know it's going in the right way. If you're not sure, look at all to make sure they match up and plug it in...it might only need a bit more force.

I love how I always give up, ask for help, then figure it out. Lmao, I just powered on my machine. It only stayed on for 30 seconds or so without a hard drive, but, it will turn on, and everything appears functional. Time to do some fine tuning, fix my hard drive, and get it going!

remember computer are standard from brand to brand. year to year. kinda. things fix or they dont. dont force things to fit incorretly. people think its hard to build a computer. not really. its when you hit problems you have to no. i dont no why i told that i just like useing my new keyboard.

common sense plays a part to.
