Hey, I haven't been on here in a while  anyways I have a few questions about my upgrade that I'm about to purchase.
My current rig is:
Amd 3800+ skt 939
Asus a8n5x
ATI PowerColor 512mb HD3650 Pci express 2.0 x16
1gb Crossair DDR
Rosewill 500w
250gb hardrive sata 3.0gb
I want to upgrade my current rig, but I have a budget of $270 (unless there's rebates that lower the price afterwords) and I really want a quad core system.
Here's what I picked out for an AMD rig

or the Intel rig

Whats a better choice? The Amd phenom has a faster clock and supports HT. The only thing I see intel Q6600 has on it is the L2 cache is larger, but the in CPU bench marks I always see the Q6600 beat the phenom. Does all this really matter? Also if I go intel I can't find a motherboard that has pci 2.0 x16 that will stay under my budget, does 2.0 really make a difference?
Thanks

Go with a 780G over a 770. New southbridge, integrated which can CF with your HD 3650, and probably better OC'ing capabilities.

I'd say the AMD build if you're not an overclocker. The 9950 is from legit sites very slightly faster than the Q6600 in general. And if you go with the Intel you'll have to put up with a rubbish board, whereas the 780G is pretty sweet.
And the Q6600 requires more cache because it has the bottleneck of the FSB.

Yeah, I'm not into overclocking and that's what I thought about the 9950 but people have told me different. What do you mean by 'which can CF with your HD 3650' what does that do?
thanks a lot for your response

The HD 3200 in the 780G can do Crossfire with your HD 3650 graphics card.
