Is using the windows vista defragmentation tool the best way to defrag on vista or is there a free downladable defrag tool that is better?

meh, between windows and custom made progs, there wont be a major difference unless you are like some heavy hardcore constant install/uninstall person idk.

the one in Vista is perfectly fine. You really won't be benefiting much from using a custom program.
Like spyware said, if you do a lot of installing and un-installing...then maybe a custom program may be a better option for you. But as a regular everyday user, the one built into windows, is plenty :)

I disabled Vista defrag as I prefer more control than it offers and the scheduling thing is crap.

I use Auslogics Disk Defrag
