question about vista ultimate

Ok, so over the summer I built a new computer from the ground up for the first time ever. It's got a AMD windsor 6000+ CPU, 4 gigs of ram, a 1 gig video card, and a 750 hard drive. I read somewhere that the only version of windows that will recognize all the ram that I've got is vista ultimate. Is this true?

No, you need a 64-bit OS. There is a 64-bit and 32-bit version of each edition of vista.

skip on vista for now. windows has announced it will be shipping windows 7 at the end of 2009.
