can't the GX2 run out of RAM? that happened during a benchmark test with a 4870 512MB and on GRID. Around some of the tracks on high settings it was just unplayable

They're running the 512MB version of the 4870 compared to the 1GB and 896MB 280?! That's why it's better. Try comparing it to the 4870x2.
