Temps??

Ok im really starting to get worried about my CPU Temps,NO Overclocking,and after only 1 minute of running Prime95 im getting temps of 66c.Im using the program that came with my motherboard to read the temps btw.

uh... my CPU gets to its max temp when running Prime95 for 5 seconds...
Prime95 is a CPU Stressing program, so it makes the CPU work 100% which generates much heat
Unless you are using an good HSF.

No it's stock,but i was reading somewhere that an AMD CPU's max temp before damaging itself is 70c?

I imagine it depends on which one you are talking about specifically.

Anyway, I would pull that heatsink off and reapply thermal paste.

The max temp for an X2 4800+ runs anywhere from 65°C to 72°C depending on the model.

yeah, thats what i'll do.

I think the computer will shut itself down if it gets too hot.

Well i used Arctic silver 5? Isnt that stuff meant to be good?

Anyway,i havn't got that much cash,so i just ordered THIS.

That's not a bad CPU cooler. You could have done better for the price though.

AS5 has a 200 hour break-in period where it'll go down a few degrees during that time.
