Paypal....what a scam!!

I never use paypal. I never even use a credit card. If I need to buy something, I have cash, money orders, certified cashier checks, and personal checks. I never ran into something that I couldn't pay for using these methods. I never trust putting bank or credit card info on the internet.

That can happen if you have a keylogger on oyur computer, or you enter your password in a link from a phishing email. I guess it's also possible that somebody cracked or guessed your password. My parents had some unauthorized paypal transactions on their credit card in the late '90s, but that was taken care of. The person gave the name "Michael Billa" lol. They didn't even have a paypal account until over five years after that, for ebay. The bank account that the paypal account is hooked up to only has ~$15 in it, and they only use the credit card for payments. They can easily be disputed that way, but no problems with their account ever. My uncle had a problem with somebody selling porn with his paypal acount, but I don't know of anybody else. My mom has got her money refunded through paypal once, when the person didn't send the item. Her friend had a person get their money back, after having her ship something in an envelope, even though the buyer was warned that the item would most likely get damaged, and it was. The buyer filed a complaint, got their money back, and never returned the item.

yeah i guess i am learning the hard way about something i should have looked over. I took it for granted that everything was fine and dandy...but now i have something more to worry about, o well.

None the less, what really annoys me about this thing, is the "time" Paypal is taking to solve this problem. I was hoping to see a quicker more effective approach. I have still not recieved any updates on the status of this "investigation" and its been 1 week today. None the less...i am just hoping for the best :)

i hate to say it but i had a similar thing to happen to me about 8 months ago now, they did the same thing. gave the person a week to provide proof etc, at the end of the week, they hadnt done so, and paypal went to take the money from the guys account, but he had already spent MY money, and he didnt have a bank account attached to his account, so i never did get my money back. all that happened was his account was frozen until he pays me back but lets face it, thats never gonna happen since he just aswell setup another account rather than paying his 'debt'.

Luckily mine was only for $269 which is still a lot, but not as much as your one. From that time, i stopped using paypal, never used it since. I now use Google checkout for my business transactions.

well i am hoping this doesn't happen to me. see i reported this minutes after it happened...so lets hope that in that time he didn't delete or change anything in his account...and that paypal can still take it from his bank or credit card.
If paypal fails, i'm going to go to my bank and reverse the transaction as mentioned above. and once its resolved....delete my account.

How's googles???

Yeah since you reported it so soon, hopefully the guy didnt have a chance to transfer the money out of that account, or spend it.

I really like Google Checkout, the only thing is, its not as well-known as PayPal so you have the problem of some people not having an account with them, buti find that many businesses tend to have an account with them, and thats primarily who i sell my products too, so Google works really well for me.

Never had a trouble with dodgy payments, reverse transactions etc, so they have a thumbs up from me.

Good luck in getting it fixed my friend. I hope you get your money back!!! :D

A good way to find online buisnesses that accept google checkout is through google shopping. They have an option to only show the guys who accept it.

i saw that. i was snooping around it last night. well right now i'm just going to wait for this paypal thing to clear up...then i'll go from there. right now i have no need for any shopping online...as i need to start saving up some cash LOL.

But what i might do, is get like a credit card...with a very low credit limit...and only use it for my online purchases. that way i am safe if there is any fraud...cause they won't be able to take a lot of money....and i'll be able to track all the purchases very easily.
